The IE offers essentially the same room style and standard amenities as the IF: an interior sleeping area, desk, seating, storage and private shower bathroom. The principal distinction is location. IE cabins include forward positions on both the lower and upper passenger decks. Lower-deck IE rooms may experience less ship movement than comparable cabins high in the ship, while their forward position can still produce some motion during rough seas.
The EF adds a picture window or porthole-style ocean window, bringing natural light into the room while retaining the more enclosed feel of a traditional ocean-liner cabin. It generally includes a configurable king or twin bed, sofa or lounge seating, writing desk, storage and a private bathroom with shower. Cunard describes Queen Mary 2 Oceanview staterooms as including a king-sized bed, writing desk and lounge area. The EF locations are on the lower decks, either toward the bow or stern.
The DF has a private balcony and the standard Britannia Balcony interior, but the ocean view is partially blocked by a lifeboat or ship equipment. Cunard’s deck-plan key specifically identifies its obstructed-view balcony cabins as having views affected by lifeboats. The amount of obstruction can vary by cabin. Some may retain a reasonable view over or between lifeboats, while others may primarily offer daylight and fresh air rather than a clear panoramic view. At the listed price, it provides the lowest-cost private balcony among these choices.
The BZ has a balcony recessed into Queen Mary 2’s hull. Rather than a full glass railing, the balcony looks through a large steel opening in the side of the ship. This design provides considerably more protection from wind, spray and cool Atlantic weather than a conventional balcony. The interior is similar to other Britannia Balcony cabins, with a bed, sofa, desk and private bathroom. Because the hull opening is relatively high, seated guests may not have a full sea view; the view is best while standing. The tradeoff is greater privacy and shelter.
The BF is a standard Britannia Balcony with a conventional glass-fronted or open ocean-view balcony, depending on the exact cabin. Inside, expect a configurable king or twin bed, seating area with sofa, writing desk, storage and a private shower bathroom. Its greatest advantage over the sheltered and obstructed categories is the more open connection to the ocean. The BF’s forward, high-deck location can provide excellent views but may also experience more motion than a low or midship cabin.
The A1 is an elevated Britannia Club Balcony room with a private balcony, seating area, desk and a bed configurable as a king or two singles. The room itself is similar in concept to a regular balcony cabin, but the Club experience adds upgraded amenities and access to the more intimate Britannia Club Restaurant, where guests receive a reserved table and flexible evening dining. Club amenities include specialty tea and coffee facilities, replenished spring water, a pillow menu, bathrobes and slippers, Penhaligon’s toiletries and a welcome bottle of sparkling wine. A1 cabins occupy desirable higher-deck locations, primarily around midships or mid-aft.
The P2 uses the same Princess Grill Suite design and includes the same dining, concierge and private-area benefits as the P1. It is also approximately 381 square feet with a balcony and walk-in wardrobe. The primary difference is its forward Deck 10 location.
The P1 is approximately 381 square feet and includes a private balcony, open living and sleeping area, sofa and lounge seating, writing desk, walk-in wardrobe and an upgraded bathroom. Princess Grill guests receive priority embarkation, concierge service, a reserved table in the Princess Grill Restaurant and access to the private Grills Lounge and Grills Terrace. Unlike Queens Grill, Princess Grill does not ordinarily include a personal butler. P1 suites have the more desirable midship location and are available on Decks 10 and 13.
The Q6 provides the same Queens Grill service tier and broadly similar suite amenities as the Q5: a large room with lounge space, private balcony, enhanced bathroom, generous storage and personal butler service. The main difference is location. Q6 suites are positioned forward on Decks 9 and 10, while Q5 suites are generally midships or aft.
The Q5 is a spacious Queens Grill Suite with a separate or clearly defined lounge area, generous storage, a large private balcony and a more substantial bathroom than the Britannia categories. The precise arrangement varies by suite, but Queen Mary 2 Queens Suites begin at approximately 506 square feet. Queens Grill benefits include personal butler service, priority embarkation and disembarkation, access to the Queens Grill Restaurant, Grills Lounge and Grills Terrace, and an enhanced in-suite dining and minibar experience. Cunard notes that butlers may assist with unpacking, arranging flowers, hosting drinks or dinner and delivering daily canapés. The Q5 generally enjoys a more central or aft location than the Q6.
